About the club

ARC is considered as the international and inclusive rugby club of the greater Amsterdam area, located in Amstelveen and near Aalsmeer and Uithoorn. ARC has a long historie.
History of ARC: from NSRC to ARC
The Amstelveen Rugby Club was formed in 1963 under the name The Netherlands Scottish Rugby Club (NSRC). Lacking its own pitch and clubhouse, cooperation was sought with the Nieuwer Amstelsche Football Club (NFC), and the club first adopted that name. From 1987, the club continued independently as Amstelveense Rugby Club (ARC), and after 20 years in its first clubhouse on the Sportlaan, ARC moved to its current location.
Since then, ARC has grown into a club with several youth and senior teams in every age category in the league, women's teams, the Wanderers veterans team and gay team The Lowlanders. ARC is an international club with many foreign students, as well as expats and their children, continuing the sport from their home countries near Amsterdam's colleges, universities and businesses.
ARC offers rugby at every age and level. For the youngest, the emphasis is on learning and fun of playing. Gaining self-confidence, getting to know your own strengths and acquiring the important rugby values of respect, discipline and camaraderie are paramount. Later, the competitive component gets a bigger role, although of course even the youngest players like to win!
At the Amstelveense Rugby Club, one of the largest rugby clubs in the Netherlands, we welcome you to a world full of sportsmanship, togetherness and fun. Since 1963, we have developed into a vibrant club with more than 400 members of various nationalities. Whether you are an experienced player or just starting out, there is always a place for you at ARC.
