Dispensation and clearance

In some cases, such as when a player is clearly physically ahead or behind, can a request be made to play in a different age category. in this item we explain the process.
Furthermore you can find information about requirements for clearance, for foreign players.
Dispensation – in the interest of safety and fair play
At ARC, our principle is that children should play with others in their own age group as much as possible. Only in exceptional cases, such as when a player is clearly physically ahead or behind, can a request be made to play in a different age category.
The main considerations are the safety of the player and others, as well as the fairness of the game. When physical differences become too great, it can affect both the enjoyment of the game and the learning experience.
If you, as a player or parent, feel that a different age group would be more appropriate for these reasons, please discuss it with the team’s coach. The coach will then talk with the player, the parents, and—if applicable—the Technical Committee.
If the request is well-founded, the coach can submit a formal application to the Technical Committee. The TC will carefully assess each request and, if appropriate, forward it to Rugby Netherlands, who will make the final decision.
Clearance for foreign players (as of age 16)
Are you over 16 and have you played rugby abroad before joining ARC or do you not hold Dutch nationality? Then you’ll need clearance from the rugby union of the country where you last played, or from your country of origin (even if you’ve never played before).
To obtain clearance, you’ll need a statement from your former rugby club and national rugby union, submitted via this form.
If you’ve never been registered with a club, only the rugby union of your country of origin needs to confirm this.
In any case, please contact our membership administration at ledenadministratie@arcrugby.nl, they’ll be happy to assist you.
