Deus in adjutorium meum intende
Gloria patri
So it was in the 49th week of the year 2011 that all priests were informed to cancel mass and send their flocks to watch the exploits of ARC 3rd XV, aka The Development team. Is that sniggering I hear, O ye of little faith. Kick off 11.30
We had to play the boys of the Dukes and they send their 3rd team as well and if the first match was anything to go by it would a good match. Regular readers will know by now that in every match we have virgins and this match was no exception. Not only that but what looked like a rabbit out of a hat, in his case a BIG one, Jeroen Kruining decided this was a good day to play rugby.
From the kick off they tried to use their younger players against our little less younger but a little more weight players but we had Cris. Cris kicked as I was told later like in his younger days and with our players we put them under pressure. More tackles were made, fought for every ball and instead of running side ways we took the game to the Dukes ( their try line not actually to Den Bosch. Couls be a theme for a song ) but as so often this season a moment where our concentration went for a wee second and they scored.
So we started again and yes they scored again but we did come back, half time score 3 – 10.
This was still there for the take and early in the second half a try by Cris and conversion took the score to 10 – 10 we kept fighting and tried to put more scores on the board but unfortunately we didn't and they scored two tries, final score 10 – 22. So close.......
Everybody that went out on the pitch gave it his best and a little bit more, Frans man of the match was lifted and went for every ball and nearly got every ball including theirs. We won rucks, mauls. We made tackles and we nearly had them, so once again loads of positives to take to the next match.
On behalf of all of ARC 3rd XV aka The Development team, I would like to thank all the supporters that turned out. Great to see that you also stayed for the other matches them teams need it too. Thank you.
At 17.00 mass as the results were read out, prayers were said candles lit. And as long as we keep the faith the game will come and we all rejoice as our will be done on the pitch as it is at the bar.
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen
Hansie Baby
