As down the stairs this Sunday morn
To a city fair rode I,
There solid lines of rugby men
In squads passed me by.
No pipe did hum, no battle drum
Did sound its loud tattoo
But the huffs and the puffs of the thurds swells
Cried out in the foggy dew.So we are starting the second half of the competition and ARC 3rd XV had the pleasure of entertaining the boys from REL. As regular readers will know we don't keep the best memories from the away match.
Anyhow we wanted to play keep them from scoring as many points as they did back then. With another 2 virgins the ARC 3rd XV took the pitch.
As with matches before we play teams with an average lower than our average age, not only that but this is a team that want to get into the third division.
So they scored a couple of tries in the first half and they scored a couple tries in second half and thus ARC 3rd XV lost again. BUT as the score might suggest a walk over, it wasn't. For spells in the first AND second half we kept them from scoring and tried our best a scoring a try for ourselves. What's that do I hear sniggering? I hope not.
I honestly can say that we had possession of the ball for most of the match, even though it was after a try and conversion, walking back to kick off again. And this my friends is important because in the modern game it is all about statistics, as Rudy shows with his diagrams.
Yes they were better in playing together and passing the ball, but we had and still have the spirit to come back and looking at the table there is no reason why we can't win a game this competition.
We'll be singing, When we're winning, We'll be singing
We get knocked down
But we get up again
You're never going to keep us down
We get knocked down
But we get up again
You're never going to keep us down
We get knocked down
But we get up again
You're never going to keep us down
We get knocked down
But we get up again
You're never going to keep us down
